What is the Screen PPI Calculator?
PPI (pixels per inch) tells you how sharp a screen is. Enter the resolution and the screen size from the spec sheet to get the pixel density, the aspect ratio, the megapixels and the real width and height of the display.
How to use it
- Pick a common resolution or type the width and height in pixels.
- Enter the screen size (the diagonal) in inches.
- Read the PPI and how sharp it looks.
- Compare two phones by running both.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good PPI for a phone?
Around 300 PPI is sharp for most people, and 400 or more is very sharp. Beyond about 450 the difference is hard to see.
Does a higher resolution always look better?
Only if the screen is big enough or held close enough. A 1440p panel on a small phone looks similar to 1080p but uses more battery.
