Grand Theft Auto VI is about five weeks away. After a delay that pushed it out of 2025 and then past its original May 2026 date, Rockstar's launch is now set for Thursday, November 19, 2026, and Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has said it will not move again.
There is a lot of noise around this game, including fan sites repeating each other. This guide sticks to what has been confirmed by Rockstar or Take-Two, and flags anything that is still a report or a guess.

How the date got here
The first trailer in December 2023 pointed to a 2025 window. In 2025 Rockstar set a date of May 26, 2026, and later in the year Take-Two moved it to November 19, 2026. Since then the date has held through the June pre-order launch and the August gameplay showcase.

Price and editions
Rockstar's pricing came out with the pre-order announcement on June 24.
Standard Edition: $79.99 in the US and AU$129.95 in Australia.
Ultimate Edition: $99.99 in the US and AU$159.95 in Australia. It adds an exclusive set of in-game items, including unique vehicles, matching revolvers for the two protagonists, and extra customization options for guns, vehicles and clothing.
Neither edition gives you extra story content, so the Ultimate Edition is only worth it if you care about the cosmetics and vehicles. UK and EU pricing varies between retailers, so check your local store before paying.
The pre-order bonus
Anyone who buys either edition before November 20, 2026 gets the Vintage Vice City Pack: a '55 Vapid Stanier sedan, a garage on Ocean Beach, retro outfits and hairstyles, and a weapon pattern inspired by Tommy Vercetti's shirt from Vice City. It is cosmetic, so you are not missing gameplay if you buy later, but it is free while the window is open.
Pre-load and the "no disc" detail
Digital pre-orders can pre-load from November 12, a week before launch, so you can unlock at midnight instead of waiting on a huge download. Physical copies also go on sale on November 12, but the box contains a download code, not a disc. If you were planning to resell or lend a physical copy, that changes the math.
Plan your storage now. Rockstar has not published the file size, but a game of this scale will be large, and downloading it in the same week as everyone else can be slow.
What the Extended Look showed
On August 27, Rockstar released a roughly 26-minute "Extended Look" on Netflix and YouTube, the first real gameplay footage. These are the details that were reported across outlets:
Two protagonists. Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, and you can switch between them. Their relationship is reported to shift with your choices.
Wanted system returns. Police respond to your clothing, appearance and vehicle, so escaping can mean ditching a car or changing outfits.
Criminal profile. A new system, similar in spirit to Red Dead Redemption 2's honor meter, tracks things like unnecessary violence and does not reset like a wanted level.
Bigger world. Leonida, Rockstar's take on Florida, including Vice City. The map is reported to be about three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2's.
Lifestyle effects. Diet, exercise and sleep visibly change how characters look.
Side activities. Basketball, kayaking, diving, jet skis, dirt bikes, street racing and more.
Length. A Rockstar developer estimated around 80 hours for a playthrough focused on the main story and narrative side content.
No microtransactions in single player, and Rockstar says no generative AI was used in development.

What is still unknown
PC. There is no official PC announcement or date. Some outlets expect a later PC release based on Rockstar's past pattern, but that is speculation.
Frame rate. One outlet reported 30fps on PS5 and Xbox Series X, with a performance mode undecided. Others did not repeat it, so treat it as unconfirmed until Rockstar publishes specs.
GTA Online. The Extended Look did not reveal any online details.
Nintendo Switch 2, PS4 and Xbox One. No versions have been announced.
Should you pre-order?
Pre-order if you will play on day one, you want the Vice City Pack, and you want to pre-load so you are ready at launch. With the date holding since the summer and Zelnick publicly saying there will be no further delay, the risk is lower than it was a year ago.
Wait if you are on PC, you want to see reviews and performance first, or you would rather not pay $80 up front for a game you can buy any day. The pre-order bonus window closes on November 20, one day after launch, so you will not lose it by waiting until launch week.
